Charlotte, NC – October 18, 2010 – Drew Weaver of High Point, NC utilized his first professional win and two additional top-10 finishes this fall en route to securing an exemption into the European Tour's 2011 King Hassan II Trophy in Agadir, Morocco via the eGolf Tour’s inaugural "Race to Morocco."

The Race to Morocco was announced on August 30th of this year as a format through which the tour would determine the winner of the exemption, provided courtesy of the The Association du Trophee Hassan II de Golf (ATH) in Morocco. Tour members accrued points for top-20 finishes in each of the four fall events, and the leading point earner at the conclusion of the four events would be awarded the spot.

Weaver entered the eGolf Professional Tour’s Race to Morocco as one of the tour’s hottest players, with four top-6 finishes (including a runner-up at the Bolle Classic in June) in his prior five events heading into the tour’s fall series.

At The Manor Classic presented by Office Depot in September, Weaver put together rounds of 74-68-65-68—275 to collect a T2 finish, in turn falling three shots shy of his roommate and former Walker Cup teammate Brian Harman. That finish immediately put him in second place in the standings through one week, trailing only Harman.

Two weeks after his strong effort at The Manor Classic, Weaver returned to the greater Charlotte area for the CFAC Classic presented by Sharpie. The 54-hole event, contested at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, NC, brought out the best in Weaver’s game, as rounds of 64-68-67—199 earned him a spot in a three-man playoff for the title with Fernando Mechereffe and Tadd Fujikawa. On the first playoff hole – the par-4 14th – Weaver stuck his approach shot to 2 feet and converted the putt for a dramatic birdie and the win.

The win at Cabarrus, his first as a professional, gave him the outright lead in the Race to Morocco point standings. When the tour’s third fall event, the St. James Classic in Southport, NC, was canceled due to heavy rains and floods, Weaver was the default leader entering the fourth and final event at Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, GA.

At the Callaway Gardens Championship, Weaver posted rounds of 69-63-73—205 to finish T8 and secure his spot in the King Hassan II Trophy as the winner of the Race to Morocco. Weaver’s 5,333 points were 1,050 ahead of Harman (2nd) and 2,333 ahead of tour leading money winner Jason Kokrak (3rd).

The King Hassan II Trophy, which pairs professionals with amateurs in a Pebble Beach-style format, was recognized as an official European Tour event for the first time this year as part of The Race to Dubai. The event was first played in 1971 and boasts past champions such as Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Nick Price, Seve Ballesteros and Lee Trevino.

The 2011 edition will be contested on March 31 – April 3 at Agadir Royal Golf Club, located inside the walls of the Royal Palace. The purse for the 2010 King Hassan II Trophy was €1,361,205 (Euros), or the equivalent of $1,727,754 (USD).

"The Association du Trophee Hassan II de Golf (ATH) is pleased to provide the eGolf Professional Tour with this spot in one of the European Tour's marquee events," said Karim Guessous, Sports Director of the ATH. "Mr. Weaver will be a welcome addition to our field."

In addition to a spot in the event, the ATH will provide round-trip airfare from New York's JFK International Airport to Agadir, Morocco for Weaver.

"The eGolf Professional Tour is extremely happy to award this spot into the King Hassan II Trophy to Drew Weaver," said eGolf Tour president David Siegel. "The goal of the tour has always been to provide multiple avenues for our players to further their careers, and this spot will certainly help to do so for Drew. We are honored to be the first United States-based developmental tour to receive an exemption into a European Tour event."
