WEEKEND UPDATE: Derek Lamely and Martin Flores Collect Top-20 Finishes at the PGA TOUR's Bob Hope Classic

Derek Lamely
La Quinta, CA – January 26, 2010 – Longtime eGolf Tour player Derek Lamely finally realized his dream of playing on the PGA TOUR when he finished fourth on the season-ending 2009 Nationwide Tour money list. At last week's Bob Hope Classic, Lamely's final-round 66 propelled him to a T18 finish – the second best of his TOUR career.
Lamely's days on the eGolf Tour date back to 2003, when he was simply a struggling mini-tour player looking for games at Charlotte National Golf Club, and often losing some of the games he found. Always known as one of the hardest workers, Lamely's stated goal was to out-work the competition, and it's hard to argue he has done anything but.
A mediocre 2009 season was resurrected at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational in August, where Lamely collected his first win and soon backed it up with a pair of runner-up finishes and season-long earnings of $374,998.
With ticket in hand, his next venture would be the PGA TOUR.
After a missed cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii, Lamely headed to the Bob Hope Classic for 90 holes of golf, celebrities and low scores. With opening rounds of 68-69-66-71, Lamely entered the final round in a tie for 36th, but utilized seven birdies in his closing 18 at the Palmer Private Course to move 18 spots into a tie for 18th.
The finish marked the second best of Lamely's PGA TOUR career, dating back to a T13 effort at the 2009 Puerto Rico Open presented by Banco Popular.
Also finishing T18 last week was 2009 eGolf Tour player Martin Flores. Flores, who earned his card via a T4 finish at Q-School last fall, opened with rounds of 66-65-65 to move into a tie for second through 54 holes – trailing leader Alex Prugh by a single shot.
Unfortunately, over the final 36 holes, Flores could not distance himself from the disastrous holes. While Flores did manage to card 10 birdies in the last two rounds, they were easily offset by three double bogeys and four bogeys. In fact, in a final-round 72, Flores recorded seven birdies, thee bogeys, two double bogeys and just six pars.
Regardless of his weekend struggles, Flores is nevertheless two for two in cuts made and sits at No. 51 on the FedExCup points list after three official events.
Other former eGolf Tour players making the cut at the Hope include Jason Bohn (T33), Matt Bettencourt (T39), Jamie Lovemark (T48), Jerod Turner (T57) and Tom Gillis (T57).
