Panama City, Panama – March 1, 2010 – Longtime eGolf Tour player Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey carded rounds of 71-66-66-67—270 at the Nationwide Tour's Panama Claro Championship en route to a third-place finish – the best of his Nationwide Tour career.
Gainey, a multiple winner on the eGolf Tour and former PGA TOUR player, began the final round in a tie for ninth and slowly made up ground with a birdie at his opening hole. Ten consecutive pars would follow before birdies at Nos. 12, 14 and 15 took him to 4-under on his round. A closing bogey at the par-4 18th turned out to be inconsequential as the former GOLF CHANNEL "Big Break" star was two shots clear of fourth place and three shots back of second place.
The finish was the best of Gainey's Nationwide Tour career, bettering a T8 effort at the 2007 Cox Classic of Omaha. His 10-under 270 total matched the tournament's previous best 72-hole score, prior to this year when it was bested by winner Fran Quinn (15-under 265) and runner-up Brian Smock (13-under 267).
Kevin Chappell, the 2008 NCAA Individual Champion, collected the fourth top-10 finish of his Nationwide Tour career, and his second of 2010, with a T4 finish in Panama. The former eGolf Tour player carded rounds of 67-69-69-67—272 and was one of only four players in the 137-player field to record all four rounds in the 60s. The finish moved the UCLA Bruin up to No. 11 on the tour's money list with earnings of $34,621 through just three events.
Former player Chris Kirk carded the low final round with a 4-under 66 and moved up 34 spots and into a tie for ninth. The former collegiate Ben Hogan Award winner at the University of Georgia is now fourth on the Nationwide Tour money list with earnings of $90,294, thanks in part to his T9 in Panama and a playoff loss two weeks ago at the Moonah Classic in Australia.
Luke List and Kevin Kisner round out the eGolf Tour's representation inside the top 10, with each player collecting a T9 finish.
Kisner, a multiple champion on the eGolf Tour, was the tournament's 36-hole leader following rounds of 67-64, but slipped backwards over the weekend with closing rounds of 70-72 for a 7-under 273 total.
A former teammate of Kirk's at the UGA, Kisner's putter left him cold over the final two rounds with only five birdies to his credit – as opposed to 15 over the first two rounds. Nevertheless, it was a second top-10 finish for Kisner this season, and his earnings of $35,159 have him at No. 10 on the Nationwide Tour money list.
Other former eGolf Tour players with good weeks in Panama include David Mathis (T16), Rob Oppenheim (T16), Fabian Gomez (T16), Kyle Reifers (T29), Scott Brown (T34), Gary Christian (T36), Trevor Murphy (T53), Keegan Bradley (T53), Jamie Lovemark (T57), Justin Hicks (T57) and Casey Wittenberg (62).

- At the PGA TOUR's Waste Management Phoenix Open, former eGolf Tour player Matt Every notched the best finish of his rookie season with a T8 effort in the desert. The former Florida Gator and "Big Break" star was in a tie for third with 18 holes to play, but struggled to a final-round 72 thanks in part to four bogeys in his first 10 holes on Sunday. The finish was Every's third top-30 effort in five starts thus far in 2010. He currently sits at No. 59 on the TOUR's money list and at No. 55 on the FedExCup points list. Two-time eGolf Tour winner Tom Gillis finished T36 in Phoenix, thus brining his 2010 tally to five-for-five in cuts made on TOUR. Gillis carded rounds of 70-68-67-71—276, a total that could have been lower had it not been for two front nine double-bogeys in the final round. The longtime developmental tour player is currently 55th on the TOUR's money list and 41st on the FedExCup points list.
