Ponte Vedra Beach, FL – May 10, 2010 – Steve Marino, James Nitties and Kris Blanks led all former eGolf Tour players over the weekend at the PGA TOUR’s Players Championship, collecting T32, T39 and T45 finishes, respectively.
Marino, a two-time eGolf Tour winner, is the owner of six top-25 finishes thus far in 2010 and added a T32 at The Players, marking his best career finish in the event. After missed cuts at TPC Sawgrass in 2007 and 2008, the former University of Virginia standout has now made the cut in back-to-back years at the TOUR’s most cherished event. A second-round 67 was the highlight of a week where Marino was unable to break par in the other three rounds.
Playing in his first career Players Championship, Nitties posted rounds of 70-72-72-72—286 to finish a respectable T39 on the week. The Australian has had a rather up-and-down 2010 with 10 missed cuts in 13 starts, with a T3 at the Puerto Rico Open sandwiched in between weeks of struggles.
Blanks was also making his first start at TPC Sawgrass, and carded rounds of 71-71-75-70—287 to finish T45. Blanks is in the midst of his most successful PGA TOUR season to date, with two top-5 finishes and $672,125 in earnings thus far. His made cut at The Players ended a two-week stretch of missed cuts at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Quail Hollow Championship.
