Bare, Bradley and Potter Win First Stage Sites as 110 eGolf Tour Players Advance to Second Stage
Andy Bare
Charlotte, NC – October 31, 2009 – The second week of the first stage of the PGA TOUR's annual Qualifying Tournament is in the books, with all six sites complete after weather forced a delay in Lantana, TX. The eGolf Professional Tour was well represented at each site, with a multitude of players using their experiences on the tour to help guide them through the roller coaster known simply as "Q-School." A total of 40 eGolf Tour players made it through last week's five first-stage sites, in turn giving the tour 110 successful qualifiers thus far through two weeks of first stage sites. We will be posting daily results and summaries from each site throughout the entire process as dreams are achieved on one of golf's cruelest stages. PINEHURST, NC
Alex HamiltonNowhere was the eGolf Tour's presence felt more than at Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, NC. The top six players on the final leaderboard were all eGolf Tour players, with five of those six being 2009 tour members.
Leading the way was Andy Bare of West End, NC. Bare, a multiple winner on the eGolf Tour, led wire-to-wire in Pinehurst with rounds of 66-70-72-70—278 to claim medalist honors. Bare birdied five holes in an eight-hole stretch from Nos. 7-14 in the final round to pad his lead en route to a closing round of 70.
Finishing second was former James Madison University standout Jay Woodson. Woodson's final-round 67 was the low round of the day by two shots and was one of only three rounds in the 60s on Friday as the Magnolia Course at Pinewild took its toll on the field.
Former PGA TOUR player Matt Hendrix, Jason Kokrak, Luke List and Cameron Tringale rounded out the tour's presence in the top six, as all players successfully played their way into the second stage of Q-School.
eGolf Tour player Jamie Lovemark of Rancho Santa Fe, CA is just one week removed from a playoff loss at the Frys.com Open on the PGA TOUR. Unfortunately, he was not able to use his top-10 finish towards a spot in this week's Viking Classic due to Q-School; however, that tournament has yet to begin due to torrential rains in Mississippi. In turn, if it does get cancelled, he will be able to apply that top-10 towards a spot in the TOUR's season-ending event at Disney. Regardless, Lovemark successfully navigated first stage and finished T8 on the week.
One of the best stories from Pinewild was the final-round play of past tour winner Alex Hamilton of Aiken, SC. The former USC golfer and South Carolina Amateur champion made 12 of 16 cuts on the eGolf Tour this year, but recorded only two top-10 finishes. After three rounds in Pinehurst, it looked like more of the same for Hamilton as he found himself at 4-over 220 and well outside the magic number. A final-round 69, highlighted by birdies at Nos. 7, 8, 9 and 11 to jumpstart his round, propelled him well up the leaderboard and into a tie for 20th, in turn earning one of the final spots from the site.
Fourteen of the 24 spots in Pinehurst went to eGolf Tour players.

LAKELAND, FL
Ted Potter of Silver Springs, FL won the Lakeland, FL site at the first stage of PGA TOUR Q-School after following a first-round 70 with three consecutive rounds of 66 for a four-day total of 20-under 268.
Former junior star Ty Tryon used a second-round 62 last week to provide a cushion for the remaining two rounds en route to punching his ticket to the second stage of Q-School. Tryon, who played on the TOUR as a precocious 17-year-old in 2002, is looking to earn his way back after spending the past few years on developmental tours.
One of the better comebacks at Grasslands Golf and Country Club came from eGolf Tour member and 2008 PGA TOUR player Travis Perkins. Perkins, who went to school at nearby Florida Southern, put himself in a hole after opening with rounds of 71-74 to sit well outside the cut line. Over the closing 36 holes, he utilized 11 birdies to the tune of rounds of 67-69 to finish at 7-under 281 – on the number in a tie for 19th.

HOLLISTER, CA
eGolf Tour players Jeff Wood, John Ellis, Kevin Chappell and Keith Huber were the four tour players to successfully advance through the first stage site in Hollister, CA. Wood nearly claimed medalist honors after rounds of 73-70-67-66—276, but fell one shot shy of medalist Stuart Anderson.
Former NCAA Individual Champion Kevin Chappell of Fresno, CA put together one of the best final-round comebacks of any first stage site. Chappell, won the NCAA title while at UCLA in 2007, carded rounds of 75-71-72 to severely limit his chances of ascending to second stage. After a front-nine 34 in the final round, Chappell birdied the par-5 11th before shredding San Juan Oaks Golf Club with birdies on Nos. 14-17 to close with a 5-under 31 and a final-round 65. Chappell's final-round heroics allowed him to leap frog countless players into a tie for 13th.
Nationwide Tour player Keith Huber claimed one of the final spots at 12-under 276. A bogey at the par-4 17th put his chances in jeopardy, but Huber wound up tied for 23rd and will now prepare second stage.
