Charlotte, NC – The eGolf Gateway Tour announced today that The Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation in Hertford, NC has been selected to host the $200,000 Biggs Cadillac GMC Buick Classic on May 28-31, 2015. The event will be one of four tournaments on the 2015 schedule featuring guaranteed $200,000 purses, with the remaining three set to be announced in the coming weeks.

On October 10th of this year, the eGolf and All-American Gateway Tours announced a joint venture to form the eGolf Gateway Tour, featuring a nationwide schedule of events highlighted by the four $200,000 purse tournaments as well as a number of guaranteed-purse events throughout the 2015 season.

The eGolf Gateway Tour is set to provide year-round playing opportunities for professional golfers, all falling under the convenience of a singular membership fee of $1,750 which will cover tournaments across the country. Tour members will be granted priority entry into events on either the east or west coast, as well as reduced entry fees into all regular season and championship series events.

The Biggs Cadillac GMC Buick Classic, as well as the other three $200,000 events, will be open to all tour members on a first come, first serve basis, with non-members only allowed access on a limited, space-available basis.

“We are excited to announce this event at Albemarle Plantation,” said eGolf Gateway Tour president David Siegel. “Just as we did throughout the 2014 season, the inclusion of guaranteed six-figure purses from our Million Dollar Championship Series to a vast number of regular season events continued to solidify our product as the premier developmental tour in the country. These 2015 events will allow us to maintain that stature, and to put forth premier tournaments at elite venues such as The Sound Golf Links.”

The Sound Golf Links at Albemarle Plantation is a 1990 Dan Maples design that plays along the shores of the scenic Albemarle Sound, with three finishing holes that border the majestic blue waters of Eastern North Carolina. Known as one of the most well-manicured courses in the state, The Sound Golf Links offers a number of risk/reward holes that run along age-old marshes and through cypress groves draped in Spanish Moss – including three drive-able par-4s in the final four holes of play.

The 2015 Biggs Cadillac GMC Buick Classic will be contested during a prime week for mini-tour players, as the Web.com Tour’s Rex Hospital Open will take place the same week in Raleigh, NC, allowing for players who miss out on the tournament’s Monday qualifier to easily commute to Hertford – just 2.5 hours east of Raleigh.

Tournament week at The Sound Golf Links will kick off on Monday afternoon with practice rounds, followed by a Tuesday pro-am and additional practice rounds and a tournament shootout set for Wednesday. First-round play in the 72-hole event will begin on Thursday morning, with the field cut to the low 35 percent and ties after 36 holes of play.
